What are Server Game Style configs?

Ever wanted a game where almost every physical effect (game speed, movement, rate of fire, gravity, self damage, weapon knockback, projectile power, physics, items, projectile behavior, spawn and chat protection, and much more) weapon selection, power-up selection, and more could be specified to your liking?

That’s exactly what Server Game Style configs do and most Excessive Plus Servers have several of them.  Furthermore, the server admin can permit players to change these configs during a map via callvote.

Besides my self-created configs (see below) you can access others at the Q3 Excessive Plus Forum.  However, if you are using the latest version of E+ (2.2b) be sure to only download those configs that indicate they are for that version.  The configs are compatible with both Q3 and OA.

BaseOA 2.2x – is a configuration created by WaspKiller that loosely mimics the baseoa (Regular OpenArena) game style. Additional settings for CTF, RTF, 1FCTF, PTL and TAG are enabled. The grapple/hook (weapon 0) is also enabled but it has a high cycle time (600) and a very low time-to-live (0.5). Also, some additional settings are enabled to over-ride any server based settings (server.cfg or q3config_server.cfg) that may be contrary to baseoa’s style.

BaseOA+ 2.2x – is based on BaseOA but 3 changes were made to speed up the game style. First, the game speed was set to 420 (320 is the default speed in Q3 and OA), Gravity was set to 600 (800 is the default in Q3 and OA) and 3 Multi-Jumps were enabled (Q3 and OA do not support Multi-Jumps).

PlusD 2.2x – is a configuration created by WaspKiller that offers a moderate number of multi-jumps and enables all weapons. Lesser weapons inflict a bit more damage than typical plus style configs. Also, there is a firing knockback on the MG, LG, and PG – this is primarily to inflict a small penalty for the “spammy” nature of these weapons.

A moderate Anti-Camp is enabled and projectiles from the RG ricochet and are limited to a maximum of 2 kills per shot. There is a 2 second time-to-live on the Grenade Launcher projectiles. Additional settings for CTF, RTF, 1FCTF, PTL and TAG are enabled. In addition to the typical grenade/rocket/bfg slides (movement via weapons) the Rail Gun has an atypical self-knockback.

PlusD_OA 2.2x – is based on Plusd 2.2x but the self-knockback of most weapons has been reduced as the speed was disconcerting to many of the new and casual OpenArena Players. Also, the severity of the Anti-Camp penalty was reduced.

Rail+ 2.2x – is a configuration created by WaspKiller that offers the maximum number of multi-jumps. The Grapple, Grenade Launcher, Rocket Launcher, and BFG are unavailable. Lesser weapons do a bit more damage and a moderate Anti-Camp is enabled.

Hook+ 2.2x – is a configuration created by WaspKiller that offers an off-hand grapple with a high cycle time (600) and a very low time-to-live (0.5). Four multi-jumps are available but the Grenade Launcher, Rocket Launcher, and BFG are unavailable. The off-hand grapple/hook allows players to move swiftly while simultaneously using another weapon.

A moderate Anti-Camp is enabled and additional settings for CTF, RTF, 1FCTF, PTL and TAG are enabled.
